Every game of cards has a different set of rules to follow and so does red dog. For playing red dog complete deck of fifty – two cards is required to play the game of red dog. The table usually used for this game is the same as used in black-jack with a shoe holding six decks of cards. The game requires one dealer and maximum sixteen players.
Different cards hold different values in the game such as the worth of jack is eleven, twelve for queen, thirteen for kings and fourteen for aces. The cards from one to ten are taken on their face value. The game begins with the player promising a bet. The dealer is then supposed to pick two cards from the shoe and keep them facing up on the table. Now it’s on the player to decide if he wants to raise the bet.
The dealer then picks the final or the third card and if the value of the card is between the first two cards taken out by the dealer then the player is a winner. The real or the main bet raised originally is paid according to the money raised originally whereas a raised bet is measured on the basis of the closeness of the two cards.
There is a special scale on which the closeness and the payments are measured. There are different pay- outs for different spreads, the pay-out for 1 card spread is 5:1, the pay-out for 2 cards spread is 4:1, the pay-out for 3 cards spread is 2:1 and the number of cards spread from 4 to 11 the pay-out is even. In the case of a third card closeness, if the third card is three of a kind then the pay-out is as emphatic as 11:1. The best strategy is to raise on the hands which have a minimum spread of seven.
